Hearn was the voice of the Lakers for 41 years (1961-2002). This distinction honors those in the industry who have contributed greatly to it and have since passed away.Ĭhick Hearn, the longtime voice of the Los Angeles Lakers, will be amongst those inducted in Chicago next month. The Museum of Broadcast Communications announced today the selection of 10 new Legends inductees into the Radio Hall of Fame for 2022. They continued with all the usual segments that fans know and love on Monday. Tobin made sure WQAM listeners knew that even though they switched stations, the show isn’t changing. “We’ve all discovered here today is traffic is not the same at 8 a.m. That was something even Tobin noted is an adjustment they have to make from when they were doing morning drive. Hoard actually arrived to the show late, citing traffic issues getting to the station. “There has been less action on days we thought we had to be here than what happened last week,” Hoard added. “So now we’re back, and nothing will happen this week.” Because they were like, ‘Hey, you’re change times, you’re gonna change stations, and also it’s gonna be the busiest sports week of the year,'” he said. “It was a very weird week for us to take off last week. Tobin added that the timing between when they made their exit from The Ticket and returned on WQAM was a bit off. “I’ve been doing morning drive, producing or hosting now, for the last decade. “This is a big change for us,” Tobin said. Tobin and Leroy debuted in its new midday timeslot of 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tasker has been featured on the team’s daily radio program One Bills Live since 2018, while Murphy co-hosted the show up until this past spring.Īfter a brief hiatus and the closure of 790 The Ticket, Brendan Tobin and Leroy Hoard officially returned to the Miami airwaves on Monday on 560 WQAM. His replacement, Steve Tasker spent 21 years as an analyst for the NFL on CBS and has familiarity working with John Murphy. In addition to joining the Bills Radio Network last year, Wood also signed on as a game analyst with the ACC Network, a position he’ll maintain this season, making it impossible for him to follow New York’s travel restrictions. Travel restrictions are lifted for players, coaches and other essential team personnel, but Bills broadcasters will likely be calling all games from their home stadium. The retired pro-bowl center joined the Bills broadcast booth last year, but New York’s COVID induced quarantine rules will prevent the Kentucky resident from flying in each week to join the broadcast. Tasker, the former wide receiver, gunner and seven-time Pro Bowler for the Bills will replace Eric Wood on the team’s radio call. According to Alan Pergament of The Buffalo News, Bills great Steve Tasker is expected to join longtime play-by-play voice John Murphy on the call. One week away from the start of the NFL season and the Buffalo Bills appear to have their radio booth set.
